Growing up in the South in the U.S., I never really felt like I fit in. Now that I live in Canada, it's a bit better, but still hard to find like-minded folks in this town.
Currently I am pouring a lot of energy into helping get Bernie Sanders on the Dem ticket by volunteering online and occasionally driving over to Michigan. It would be a dream of a lifetime to see the US rescued from its decades-long drift toward oligarchy / plutocracy / corporatocracy. Sad.
My other interests and hobbies include birding, reading, leisurely bicycling, gardening, cooking, sewing and a little camping (would like to do more but don't have my own stuff yet).
I tend to be introverted, enjoy my own company, and very domestic--enjoy creating a comfortable but simple and tidy home with lots of plants, original art and a warm, welcoming feel.
I currently make a living teaching ESL to newcomers and love it. I live in a very modest upper duplex that affords me a fantastic view of a wooded area and a wee bit of water. My many feeders and bath attract a wonderful variety of birds year-round, and watching them gives me great pleasure.
My taste in music and food are both wide and eclectic. I am adventuresome and love to travel, especially through this gorgeous continent, but would also like to see Cuba soon, or other islands in this hemisphere.
