I personally identify as a Marxist-Leninist. As the son of a Russian family that migrated to Germany from the Kyrgyz SSR after the dissolution of the USSR, I tried to understand my family's origins.
Growing up in Germany, I always felt a disconnect between myself and German society. Movies, classmates, and history lessons in school portrayed the Soviet people as evil, barbaric, and backward, instilling a deep orientalist view of my Russian identity.
With the rise of the German far-right and being confronted by the contradictions of wage labor, I tried finding answers in liberalism and social democracy. But the system's conformity of those self-proclaimed leftists made me walk away from this worldview.
After coming across some YouTube videos about socialism, I fell into the communist rabbit hole. It helped me understand the society I live in, the history of my family, and gave me a new sense of purpose. Now I have become the "too woke" friend who dreams of storming the Bundestag.
