I am an Autistic (can't really use "Aspergers" anymore) male from Central New York, which thus entails that I experience executive dysfunction. Not surprisingly, anything from casual/small talk to artistic activities are mostly things I have little or no hope of ever really proficiently engaging in. And yet, I have enough "book smart" in me to steer me in this direction of idealism and even semi-philosophy. While I have nominally steered towards a nihilist direction of thinking over the past eight months alone, I still have more-than-enough momentum to progressively interact with the world around me for the sake of upholding both human and non-human life. I am deeply concerned about the environmental crisis increasingly facing the globe, and continue to see lingering elements of greed, ego, and superficiality within the Western World alone, something probably I have in common with just about anyone else who already uses this website. My strand of Autism has all but crippled any chance of me remotely building fluid and genuine friendships, no matter how much I may desire them on some level. More than a fair share of people around me in real life obviously view me as weird, confusing, conceited, bizarre, or downright aloof, and I do not need any direct verbal confirmation to understand that. As for this super-majority, I recognize their reasons for this distaste of my character, and yet I find it rather hard to feel compassion towards them. Yet, a more innate sense of respect has kept me within the accepted social norms. So, yeah, I don't really expect much from this online community as compared to my real-life situation, but it's pretty obvious that socialists tend to be free-thinkers in general, and maybe this is just the kind of acquaintance I need.
